JODHPUR, June 26 -- The Rajasthan high court on Wednesday directed petitioners challenging demolition notices issued to religious structures in Rajasthan's border districts to supply copies of their petitions to the Additional Advocate General (AAG) and listed all the matters for hearing on June 29.
According to the petition, Union home minister, during a high-level security review meeting in Bikaner on May 27, announced that illegal constructions within 15 kilometres of the international border in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar and Phalodi districts would be removed. The petition further states that reports published on June 14 indicated that the proposed action would extend to structures within 50 kilometres of the border.

When the matter came up before the HC on Wednesday, the AAG sought time to file a reply on behalf of the government. The bench directed that copies of the petitions be supplied to the AAG and fixed June 29 for hearing. The bench also observed that the petitioners would be free to submit replies to the notices, if so advised.
One of the petitions has been filed by the Peer Mohammad Jilani Dargah Samiti, Ramgarh, in Jaisalmer district, along with others. The petitioner have submitted that the dargah has existed for more than 200 years and is visited daily by devotees. According to the plea, an annual Urs is organised at the shrine and permissions for the event have been granted by the district administration for many years....
