Jaipur, June 6 -- The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested an assistant engineer and a computer operator of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) in Tonk while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a consumer.
The accused were identified as assistant engineer Navneet Singh Gurjar and operator Mohammad Shazim
ACB director general of police Govind Gupta said the bureau received a complaint alleging that the accused engineer visited the complainant's home on June 4, photographed the electricity meter, removed it, and threatened to register a Vigilance Checking Report (VCR) case. The complainant alleged that demanded Rs.25,000 in exchange for returning the meter.
Following the complaint, the ACB set up a trap operation during which the accused allegedly reiterated the demand. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced from Rs.25,000 to Rs.20,000.
The bureau said the probe was underway....
