JODHPUR, Sept. 25 -- Six of the 13 firefighters injured in a chemical drum blast while battling a fire at a handicraft factory in Jodhpur's Basni area were shifted by ambulance to Jaipur's SMS Hospital on Thursday through a 350-km green corridor for specialised treatment of serious burn injuries, officials said. The six firefighters were moved from Mahatma Gandhi Hospital (MGH) at 3pm. Traffic was stopped at several points along the route to facilitate the ambulances. MGH superintendent Dr Fateh Singh Bhati identified the six as Mohammad Hanif, Prakash, Jogaram, Ashiq Khan, Prem Tamboli and Avinash. The remaining seven injured firefighters are admitted to MGH. Three are on ventilator support and four are receiving oxygen support, Bhati said. The fire broke out at around 5.30 pm on Wednesday at a handicraft factory in Ganesh Nagar Shramik Colony in Basni. Around 35 firefighters reached the factory to control the blaze. Basni SHO Nitin Dave said a case had been registered on the complaint of the municipal corporation's chief fire officer.
