SIR to begin for 54.8mn voters in Rajasthan starting Nov 4
Jaipur, Oct. 28 -- Rajasthan with over 5.48 crore electors has been declared by the Election Commission to be among 12 states in India where the special intensive revision will begin from November 4.
CEC, Gyanesh Kumar made the announcement on Monday during a press conference in New Delhi. "After the successful conduction of SIR in Bihar, it is going to be conducted in 12 states and union territories which will be the Phase 2 of SIR process in the country, "he said,
"The last SIR was held two decades ago. SIR will ensure no eligible elector is left out and no ineligible elector is included in poll rolls," Kumar added.
According to the details provided by the EC, Rajasthan currently comprises 5 crores 48 lakh 85 thousand electors across 52,490 polling booths.
There is also 97,873 political party BLAs, 933 EROs or AEROs across 41 districts.
For the SIR process, training will be given since October 28 to November 3 following which BLOs will conduct the house to house enumeration process from November 4 to December 4. The first draft electoral roll will be published on December 9 and the final one on February 7, 2026, said CEC....
