Jaipur, Aug. 9 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday said public prosecutors play a crucial role in ensuring justice reaches the last person in the queue and strengthening people's faith in the government through effective law enforcement and accessible justice. Addressing an interaction with public prosecutors and legal officers at his official residence in Jaipur, Sharma said effective law and order and easy access to justice were essential for translating the concept of good governance into reality. "Public prosecutors are an important link in the judicial process, from representing the government in courts to ensuring justice for people at the last mile," Sharma said. Sharma said the state government had decided to increase the retainer and appearance fees of legal officers representing the government in the Rajasthan high court. Their drafting and opinion fees will also be increased, he said.
