Second student found dead at Jaipur private varsity in 2 days
Jaipur, Aug. 28 -- A 21-year-old student was found dead in a private hostel near a university in Jaipur, marking the second suspected student suicide case associated with the institution in two days, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the body of the second-year Cardiac Perfusion Technology (CPT) student from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura was recovered from his hostel room late Wednesday after students alerted Chandwaji police.
Station house officer Rajbir Singh said the condition of the body suggested that the student may have died a day or two before it was discovered. "A foul smell was emanating from the body. We suspect that the student may have died by suicide one or two days ago. The body has been sent to NIMS Hospital for a post-mortem examination," Singh said, adding that the circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated.
Police have not yet disclosed whether a suicide note was recovered. The exact cause and time of death will be established following the post-mortem examination, police said.
