Jaipur, Aug. 26 -- Intermittent rainfall was reported in Jaipur and six other districts on Tuesday morning, with Alwar recording multiple instances of waterlogging due to heavy rainfall, officials aware of the matter said. In Dausa's Lalsot, around a five-inch sheet of water was flowing over the Morel Dam. Alwar city also received heavy rain in the morning, resulting in waterlogging at several locations. Continuous rainfall has brought down temperatures by up to 2 degrees Celsius in several cities. Intermittent rain was reported in Alwar, Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota, Dausa and Tonk from Tuesday. Jaipur experienced rain for the second consecutive day. Officials said water levels in several dams in Dholpur have risen following the recent rainfall. The Ramsagar Dam has a storage capacity of 25.1 feet and has reached 24.50 feet. Urmila Sagar Dam, with a capacity of 28.50 feet, has reached 24 feet. The Parvati Dam has a full reservoir level of 223.42 metres and its water level has reached 221.85 metres. An official said the gates of the Parvati Dam would be opened once the water level rises by another metre. Water is also nearing the spillway of Ramsagar Dam, officials said. According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area continues to persist over Jharkhand, while the monsoon trough is passing through the low-pressure system along the Jammu-Dehradun-Vaikom axis. During the past 24 hours, heavy rain was recorded at isolated places in Alwar, Bundi, Dausa, Deeg, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk districts. The highest rainfall of 120 mm was recorded at Nadoti in Sawai Madhopur. The Met department has forecast moderate to locally heavy rain in parts of the Kota, Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions of eastern Rajasthan on August 25 and 26. Light to moderate rain is also likely in parts of the Udaipur and Ajmer divisions and the Shekhawati region during this period, said the forecast. Rain activity is expected to decline again across eastern Rajasthan between August 27 and September 2.
