Jaipur, Aug. 10 -- The Sawai Madhopur police launched a month-long anti-drug campaign under which residents, particularly women and youth, affected by drug addiction, will be encouraged to help identify drug trafficking and support those struggling with substance abuse, officials said on Sunday. The first phase of the "Drug Warrior" campaign, which began on August 7, will continue until September 7, 2026. Police will also verify areas where drug sales are reported to have stopped and certify them as "drug-free beats". Sawai Madhopur SP Jyeshtha Maitreyi said the campaign would involve residents, particularly women and youth, in identifying drug-related activities in their families, neighbourhoods and villages and sharing information with the police. She said, "Doctors, teachers and school principals have also been asked to participate. The campaign follows the approach of making "first the family, then the neighbourhood and then the village" drug-free." Police said the initiative would focus not only on action against drug trafficking but also on helping people affected by substance abuse. Families have been encouraged to approach the police so that assistance can be provided to drug-dependent members. Under the campaign, "drug warriors" can report that drugs are no longer being sold in their area. The claim will be verified by special police team.
