Jaipur, Sept. 17 -- Re-polling was held at 10 polling booths in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Suket on Wednesday after technical glitches in electronic voting machines (EVMs) disrupted the counting process during the Rajasthan urban local body elections on September 14. The re-polling began at 7 am and continued until 6 pm at the affected booths. The State Election Commission had ordered fresh polling after EVM-related technical problems prevented the counting of votes at these booths. In Jaipur, re-polling was held at five booths spread across four wards - Ward 9, Ward 18, Ward 25 and Ward 34. The re-polling was conducted peacefully, with an overall turnout of 69.92%. Ward 9 recorded 73.22% turnout, Ward 18 72%, Ward 25 81.63% and Ward 34 61.24%. Of the 6,253 registered voters across five polling centres, 4,372 exercised their franchise. In Jodhpur, re-polling was conducted at polling booth 338 in Ward 50. The polling remained peaceful and orderly, according to the district election office. Of the 1,025 registered voters at the booth, 742 exercised their franchise, recording a final turnout of 72.39%. Counting of votes will be held from 8 am on Thursday. The result for Ward 50 had been kept on hold on September 14 after an EVM malfunction disrupted the counting process, following which the commission ordered fresh polling at the affected booth. In Kota Municipal Corporation, re-polling was held at three booths in three wards due to technical problems with EVMs. The three booths recorded a combined turnout of 76.89% by 6 pm.
