Raj tops country in treatment FOR halting tobacco and counselling
Jaipur, Oct. 11 -- Rajasthan has been selected for the top national rank in the implementation of tobacco cessation treatment and counselling services, with over 152,000 people receiving assistance to quit tobacco over the past 10 months, according to the state health department.
The recognition is based on the state's performance during the past 10 months, assessed by the National Resource Centre under the Union health ministry. The award will be presented at a ceremony in New Delhi in January-February 2027.
Gayatri Rathore, principal secretary, medical and health, said Rajasthan had extended tobacco cessation services to the block level through trained dentists. The state is the only one in the country providing such services through dental practitioners at the block level, she said.htc...
