Raj to form dept to look after interests of NRRs
Jaipur, Sept. 27 -- Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday announced the formation of a dedicated department to look after the professional and social initiatives of non-resident Rajasthanis (NRRs). He added that significant members of the diaspora would be feted for their contributions to society.
Addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani Meet in Jaipur, Sharma lauded the role played by NRRs in promoting the state's culture, values and traditions, and urged them to continue to invest in the state's development.
Sharma also extended an invitation to the inaugural Pravasi Rajasthani Divas, scheduled on December 10 in Jaipur. He said that the program would involve discussions on education, tourism, industry, health, and water conservation, aiming to facilitate collaboration between the government and the diaspora.
He highlighted that the dedicated department will act as a focal point to support diaspora initiatives and connect them with state programs effectively.
Sharma also detailed the Rajasthan Foundation's expansion, with 14 new chapters opened in the past year and 12 existing chapters now fully functional, making 26 chapters operational globally in cities like New York, London, and Riyadh.
These chapters act as bridges between the state government and the diaspora, encouraging collaboration in Rajasthan's growth. Each district in Rajasthan now has a single-point contact and an additional District Collector as nodal officer to address diaspora concerns, said the chief minister.
Sharma said that on September 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a nuclear power project with a capacity of 2,800 megawatts and a cost of Rs.42,000 crore at Mahi-Banswara in Rajasthan.
He added that the state has taken new initiatives in every sector of energy, including battery storage, pump storage, rooftop solar, and decentralized solar projects under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Highlighting the immense potential of tourism in Rajasthan, Sharma said that the state attracts millions of domestic and international tourists every year. "Every corner of Rajasthan showcases its rich heritage, nature, culture, and diversity," he noted.To accelerate tourism investment, the state government has reduced the minimum investment requirement for land allotment from Rs.100 crore to Rs.50 crore. This amendment, he said, will provide opportunities for participation to investors in the heritage, wellness, hospitality sectors, and domestic investors....
