Raj targets Rs.14K-crore mining revenue in FY27
Jaipur, April 22 -- The Rajasthan government has set a steep mining revenue target of Rs.14,001 crore for the financial year 2026-27, registering a significant 39% increase over the previous year, as it pushes to strengthen one of its key revenue-generating sectors.
The state's Mines Department has initiated an extensive exercise to streamline revenue collection. Officials have been directed to prepare a comprehensive calendar covering the entire process-from identification and delineation of mineral-rich areas to the preparation and auction of major and minor mineral blocks and plots during the financial year.
Additional chief secretary (Mines and Petroleum) Aparna Arora said officials are directed to focus on all possible sources of revenue generation. They have been asked to prepare a detailed roadmap with defined timelines for mineral exploration, delineation of areas, and auction processes to bring efficiency and transparency.
Arora said the state is prioritise restarting production in closed mines, emphasising that reviving these idle assets would boost revenue and create employment opportunities.
The Mines Department, a major contributor to the state exchequer, recorded a 13% growth in the recently concluded financial year, achieving a record revenue collection of Rs.10,394 crore. Building on this performance, the government has now set the higher target of Rs.14,001 crore, she said.
She informed that the officials to prepare office-wise monthly revenue collection roadmaps and begin focusing immediately on all potential revenue streams. She also underlined the importance of plugging revenue leakages by addressing areas of loss.
