Jaipur, July 24 -- Rajasthan has introduced an automatic e-Zero FIR system for cyber financial fraud complaints involving Rs.1 lakh or more, enabling police to initiate investigations without waiting for the complainant to visit a police station. The new system came into effect across the state on Thursday. Under the revised mechanism, an e-Zero FIR will be automatically generated when a complaint involving a financial fraud of Rs.1 lakh or above is registered through the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or the 1930 cyber helpline. The I4C portal has now been integrated with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), allowing the FIR to be registered automatically at the designated cyber police station. Once an e-Zero FIR is generated, police will immediately begin legal proceedings, including freezing bank accounts, securing suspicious funds, collecting Call Detail Records, Internet Protocol Detail Records , CCTV footage and other digital evidence, without waiting for the complainant's signature. The objective is to preserve crucial evidence and prevent cybercriminals from withdrawing or transferring the defrauded money. Additional director general of police (Cyber Crime) VK Singh said Rajasthan had earlier implemented the e-FIR system only for cyber financial fraud cases involving Rs.5 lakh or more. The threshold has now been reduced to Rs.1 lakh, enabling a much larger number of victims to receive immediate legal protection and investigation. Under the new procedure, complainants must visit the concerned police station within 72 hours of the registration of the e-Zero FIR to sign the printed copy of the FIR. If they fail to do so, police will issue a notice. Preliminary probe and other necessary legal action will continue even if signature is pending. The revised system also specifies the jurisdiction for investigation. Cases involving cyber financial fraud of Rs.1 crore or more will be investigated by the State Cyber Crime Police Station in Jaipur. Cases involving fraud between Rs.1 lakh and Rs.1 crore will be investigated by the concerned District Cyber Crime Police Station or the local police station, as directed by the district superintendent of police or deputy commissioner of police.
