Raj BJP chief slams MLSU VC's Aurangzeb comment
Jaipur, Sept. 21 -- Bharatiya Janata Party's state unit president Madan Rathore on Saturday said that the Vice chancellor of the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (MLSU), Sunita Mishra's recent statement calling Aurangzeb "the best administrator" was a crime, and that she did not understand history.
"BJP's stance is very clear in this matter. Her statement is wrong and everybody should refrain themselves from such comments that hurt the sentiments of anyone. This statement is a crime," Rathore said criticising the vice chancellor's remarks.
" She should not have made any comment without reading and understanding our history. However, later she apologised to everyone which proves that there is still some conscience left in her," Rathore told reporters on Saturday.
"The government is serious about the matter. The probe committee will interrogate her and take further action as part of the investigation that will happen soon," he further added:
Rajasthan governor Haridev Bagade, on Wednesday, has directed a probe against Mishra, who recently praised Mughal emperor Aurangzeb as the 'best administrator' triggering a massive protest by the local Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unit.
"This committee is hereby directed to investigate all the allegations received against the VC of MLSU, Sunita Mishra, gather all the necessary documents, and prepare a detailed report which has to be submitted to the governor as soon as possible," read the order copy seen by HT.
This comes only a day after Mishra circulated a video statement apologising for her statement. She made the remark during an event which she attended called 'Indian Knowledge System: A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat 2047' conference on September 12, where she described Aurangzeb as "(an) administrator, he is the best."
She had also 'equated' Maharana Pratap and Prithviraj Chauhan with Akbar, saying that from a historical perspective, we keep hearing about all these rulers.
Rathore, meanwhile, also slammed the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MP Rajkumar Roat for criticising the Mahi Banswara Atomic Power Plant whose foundation stone is going to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25.
Taking to social media platform X, Roat, on Saturday said that this project will turn out to be a 'killer' for the tribal community residing in the area whose lands were occupied unlawfully.
"This will be a huge unjust move if Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation stone of this project with his hands despite several protests by tribals who did not even get a single penny as compensation in exchange of their lands," Roat wrote.
Commenting on the development, Rathore said, "This is extrememly shameful regarding what he said. Banswara's people are happy for this project. They got a double price for infertile lands. There is nothing that disappointed them. Roat must do his politics but should not attempt to divide the society."...
