PV Sindhu donates her prized jerseys to Deepika's mental health foundation
India, Oct. 11 -- Shuttler PV Sindhu's jerseys are finding a new purpose beyond the badminton court. On World Mental Health Day, October 10, actor Deepika Padukone launched Featured Closets, an extension of her charity wardrobe initiative, with the ace badminton player as its first guest curator.
Sindhu has contributed jerseys, jersey sets and dresses from her personal wardrobe, priced between Rs.850 and Rs.1,100. Proceeds will support Deepika's Live Love Laugh Foundation, which works to improve mental health awareness and access to care.
The launch comes seven years after The Deepika Padukone Closet began inviting fans to shop pieces from the actor's wardrobe for the cause. The new initiative widens that circle by featuring collections from other public figures.
"Collaborating with PV Sindhu on this first-ever 'Featured Closet' has been incredibly special. She's not only a world-class athlete, but someone whose grace, grit, and authenticity I deeply admire," Deepika said in a statement posted on Instagram.
For Sindhu, the collaboration is also an opportunity to challenge expectations around athletes' emotional resilience. She said in a statement, "As athletes, we're often seen as mentally tough - but it's just as necessary to talk about the moments we struggle. I hope this initiative encourages more openness, empathy, and support for those facing mental health challenges." htc...
