JODHPUR, April 18 -- Arguments on behalf of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu in his appeal against a life sentence in the 2013 minor rape case concluded before the Rajasthan high court on Friday, while the prosecution is set to begin its arguments on Saturday as the hearing continues on a day-to-day basis. A division bench of justices Arun Monga and Yogendra Kumar Purohit recorded in its order that the counsel for the appellant had completed his submissions, while the prosecution's arguments are underway and will resume on April 18. During the proceedings, the bench noted that although the entire record of the trial court had been placed before it, a portion of the material was still in sealed form. The court directed the registry to de-seal that part of the record, convert it into digital format, and provide it to the bench in a pen drive. A special court in Jodhpur had sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment in April 2018 for sexually assaulting a minor at his ashram in Manai village near Jodhpur in 2013.dinesh bothra...
