Ajmer, July 16 -- Private schools across Rajasthan remained closed on Wednesday under the banner of the Rajasthan Private Educational Institutions Struggle Committee to protest the non-payment of Right to Education (RTE) reimbursements and difficulties caused by inspections under the Shiksha Sambal Abhiyan during the admission process. The committee submitted a memorandum addressed to the chief minister, demanding the immediate release of pending dues and policy reforms. The committee said the government has been admitting students to PP3, PP4, and PP5 classes under the 25% RTE quota for the past several years without reimbursing private schools, severely affecting their financial stability. It also alleged that no reimbursement has been released for RTE students enrolled in Classes 1 to 8 during the 2025-26 academic session, despite the prescribed timeline requiring payments twice a year. It demanded an annual revision of the per-student unit cost in line with inflation. Committee patron Mohanlal Kaushik said the government's policies towards private schools have pushed many institutions into financial distress. He claimed that although a budget allocation of Rs.500.11 crore was made for RTE reimbursements covering the academic years 2021-22 to 2025-26, the funds have not been transferred. It also demanded the withdrawal of orders directing schools to issue Transfer Certificates (TCs) even when students have unpaid fees, describing the move as an infringement on the rights of private institutions.
