Barmer, May 29 -- A private school owner in Rajasthan's Barmer district has been booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly raping a 16-year-old Class 12 girl after luring her into his car under the pretext of dropping her to school, police said on Thursday. The accused allegedly threatened the minor that he would destroy her life and reputation if she revealed the incident to anyone. The incident occurred on April 21, but the FIR was registered on May 28 under the POCSO Act following the girl's complaint. In her statement to the police, the girl said that she was waiting for her school bus near her village when the accused - who owns the private school where she had studied previously- arrived in a Bolero car. He offered her a lift, saying he was going towards her new school. "Trusting her former school owner, the girl got into the vehicle. Instead of dropping her at school, the accused first took her to a shop where he bought her ice cream and sweets. He then drove her to a secluded location and allegedly raped her," a police officer said, quoting the complaint. After committing the crime, the accused allegedly threatened the minor, saying, "If you tell anyone about this, I will destroy your life." Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Nitesh Arya said a case has been registered against the accused for rape and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of BNS and Pocso Act.
