Jaipur, Oct. 19 -- The Manak Chowk police have arrested a woman and recovered jewellery worth more than Rs.2 crore, allegedly stolen from a jewellery trader while he travelled in an e-rickshaw in Jaipur, officers said on Sunday. Deputy commissioner of police (Jaipur North) Karan Sharma said the theft occurred on October 15, when the trader was travelling from Gangauri Bazaar towards Sanganer Gate with 13 packets of jewellery meant for delivery to different traders. The packets contained emerald-studded jewellery and other valuable items. The theft came to light after unidentified persons allegedly stole the packets during the journey. Police formed a special team, supervised by senior officers, to investigate the case. Investigators examined footage from around 200 CCTV cameras in the area and used technical and human intelligence to identify a woman who had travelled in the same e-rickshaw as the trader. Further investigation led police to a slum settlement in Jaipur, where the suspect was arrested. Officers subsequently recovered stolen jewellery worth more than Rs.2 crore from her possession. The accused is being questioned, and police are investigating her possible links with others involved in the theft. Further details are awaited....
