JODHPUR, Sept. 4 -- The Rajasthan high court on Wednesday declined to interfere in a public interest litigation seeking appointment of an IPS officer as Superintendent of Police of Nagaur, saying it was not inclined to intervene in administrative matters. The court, however, allowed the petitioner to submit a fresh representation to the State Election Commission over the issue. A division bench of justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati and justice Bipin Gupta passed the order on a PIL filed by the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party through its authorised representative Anil Barupal. The petition had sought immediate filling of the SP post with an officer from the Indian Police Service cadre, particularly in view of the forthcoming municipal and panchayat elections. The petition said IPS officer Roshan Meena was transferred from the post of Nagaur SP on May 19 and the position had remained vacant thereafter. It challenged an August 19 order of the Department of Personnel that gave additional charge of SP, Nagaur to an Additional SP from the Rajasthan Police Service cadre.
