Jaipur, Sept. 18 -- The Rajasthan government has fixed September 23 and 24 for the reservation lottery for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections, setting the stage for the next phase of the rural electoral process, officials said. According to directions issued by Panchayati Raj commissioner and Secretary Dr Jogaram, the reservation lottery for Zila Parishad members, Pradhans and Panchayat Samiti members will be conducted at the district level on September 23. The reservation for Sarpanch and ward panch posts will be determined through a lottery at the sub-divisional level on September 24. The exercise was earlier scheduled for September 17 and 18 but was postponed as district collectors, sub-divisional officers and other officials were engaged in the ongoing urban local body elections. The fresh dates were announced after the municipal election process progressed, allowing the administration to resume preparations for the Panchayati Raj polls. The reservation lottery is a crucial step before the State Election Commission can finalise the election schedule, as the reservation status of individual seats will determine the pool of potential candidates. The process had also been postponed earlier in August. The government had initially planned the reservation lottery for August 17-18 before announcing September 17-18 as the revised dates. Meanwhile, With Rajasthan's panchayat election ahead, the state government will launch a month-long "Viksit Bharat-Jan Seva Abhiyan" from September 17, focusing on taking information about welfare schemes to the grassroots, identifying eligible beneficiaries and connecting them with government programmes. The campaign will continue till October 17 and is expected to cover rural as well as urban areas through a series of public-service and awareness activities....
