Jaipur, July 6 -- The alleged operator of an illegal fireworks manufacturing unit has been arrested in connection with the June 9 fire in Jaipur's Khoh Nagorian area that claimed eight lives, police said, adding that the accused had been absconding in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh before being apprehended during a raid.
Deputy commissioner of police (East) Ranjita Sharma said the arrested accused, Firoz (33), is a resident of Ghaziabad. Following the deadly fire, he allegedly went into hiding in his home town while police teams continued searching for him."
"The Khoh Nagorian police station team had been conducting raids to trace the absconding accused. SHO Prakash Ram Vishnoi received specific information that Firoz was hiding in Ghaziabad. Acting on the tip-off, a police team raided the location late on Saturday evening and arrested him," Sharma said.
The DCP said probe revealed that Firoz allegedly procured explosive raw materials from Delhi and Ghaziabad and transported them to Jaipur, where he manufactured and packed fireworks at illegal units operating in the Khoh Nagorian area.
Police teams are also searching for arrested accused Qayum Khan's brother, Yakub, who remains absconding.htc...
