Jaipur, Oct. 2 -- The National Green Tribunal, Central Zone Bench, Bhopal, directed Rajasthan government to formulate a state-wide policy for the scientific management of Prosopis Juliflora, commonly known as Vilayati Babool, while ordering action against unauthorised charcoal kilns in Bhilwara district. The directions were issued while hearing a petition filed by Shivraj Kumawat and three others alleging illegal cutting of trees from grazing land in Bamniya village of Banera tehsil and use of wood for charcoal production at Nimbahera and Bhattera. The tribunal noted that while Prosopis Juliflora can provide green cover, dense growth can suppress native vegetation.
