Jaipur, Feb. 14 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT), Central Zone Bench at Bhopal, has taken suo motu cognisance of worsening air pollution in Khara village of Bikaner district after reports that villagers were keeping children away from schools due to hazardous air quality. The matter was heard by a bench comprising justice Sheo Kumar Singh and expert member Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi, who issued a series of directions to authorities in Rajasthan. An official release states that the Tribunal directed notices to be issued to the State government, the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, the District Education Officer and the Principal Secretary (Environment), seeking their response.
