Jaipur, Sept. 29 -- The National Green Tribunal, Central Zone Bench, Bhopal, has directed Rajasthan forest department to take possession of 2.9087 hectares of forest land in Jaipur found recorded in the department's name and allegedly used for development of an industrial area. The NGT directed principal chief conservator of forests and the principal secretary, forest department, to take possession of the land in village Beer Papad, Patwari Halka Jheetwara, Jaipur tehsil, within 30 days. It also directed principal chief conservator of forests to fix responsibility and initiate departmental inquiry against officials posted in the area who failed to protect the forest land. The case concerned allegations that Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) used forest land for an industrial area.
