National SC panel meets home min
Jaipur, Aug. 21 -- National scheduled caste commission on Wednesday met state home minister Jawahar Singh Bedham and director general of police Rajeev Sharma over the atrocities against scheduled caste (SC) communities.
The commission was on a two-day visit after two years to hold high-level meeting with the state government to monitor the schemes and condition of the crimes against scheduled caste communities.
"Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, crimes against scheduled castes have reduced significantly in the last one and a half years. The intention of the government is to make Rajasthan crime free. However, more improvements are still needed," said the home minister. He also said that the commission has made some crucial suggestions which will be followed in future.
DIG of the commission, Sanmeet Kaur, collected information from the police officers about the crimes registered against the scheduled castes, challans, charge sheets, disposal of cases, etc. and also gave corrective suggestions.
"Police will minutely analyse the cases being registered, will include serious matters in the case officer scheme and will try to create awareness about evil practices like not letting Dalits ride a mare and to change their mentality. Helpline 18001806025 is also being operated effectively 24 hours a day for immediate relief and registration of complaints for the Scheduled Caste category," DGP of state police, Rajeev Sharma said
"Compared to 2023, there has been a decrease in the figures of murder, rape and other crimes in 2024-25. While 8,212 cases of atrocities were registered in 2023, their number remained 7,007 in 2024. So far 3,651 cases have been registered in 2025," said ADGP of the human rights department, Malini Agrawal.
The chairman of the commission, Kishor Makwana said, "Social cooperation is very important to reduce crime and bring harmony in the society. With the help of positive organizations, saints and socially influential people, the increasing crime can be reduced."...
