Nagaur, April 29 -- Nagaur police have seized 512 grams of illegal smack worth Rs.1.03 crore and arrested an interstate smuggler near the Jangawas border, in a major breakthrough in it's ongoing anti-drug Operation Sankalp, officers said. Nagaur police achieved the success under the direction of superintendent of police Roshan Meena. A joint operation by the district special team and Medta City police followed specific intelligence received by DST in-charge Vijay Singh Rawat about a suspicious individual near the Jangawas border carrying a bag suspected to contain narcotics. Officers promptly set up surveillance and nabbed the suspect. Sp Nagaur Roshan Meena said, "During checking police detained a suspect identified as Rajesh Meena, a resident of Baldevpura village under Modpur police station limits in Baran district. Upon searching the bag carried by the accused, officers recovered 512 grams of illegal narcotic substance (smack). The seized contraband has an estimated market value of Rs.1.03 crore." Police officials revealed that Rajesh Meena used the pretext of work-related travel to transport drugs across districts. He was apprehended near the Jangawas border while allegedly attempting to deliver the consignment. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Medta City police station, with further investigation underway. Authorities stated that two additional suspects linked to the network have been identified, and efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the absconding accused. Investigators are also probing possible interstate connections and the broader supply chain. Senior police officials praised the coordinated efforts of Medta City police, the district special team, and cyber cell units, calling the action a significant step toward curbing narcotics trafficking in Nagaur district.
