Jaipur, June 11 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday offered special prayers at the Ganesh Temple in Jaipur's Moti Dungri to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming the longest serving Prime Minister in the country's history upon completion of 12 years in office. Addressing reporters at the event, he said that Modi's leadership had transformed India through a series of historic decisions, governance reforms and welfare initiatives that reshaped the country's development trajectory. India's growing influence on the global stage reflected the success of the reforms undertaken under the Prime Minister, said Sharma, adding that a new era of governance marked by decisive policymaking, welfare delivery and inclusive development was underway. In a statement and letter addressed on behalf of the state's 85 million residents, the chief minister said Rajasthan has benefited from major initiatives including the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, Yamuna water agreement, Jaipur Metro Phase-II and the Mahi-Banswara Nuclear Power Project. He added that the upcoming refinery project and industrial development under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor would further strengthen the state's position as an emerging industrial hub. Highlighting governance and development outcomes, Sharma said the past 12 years had brought large-scale infrastructure expansion, welfare delivery and investment inflows benefiting farmers, youth, women and economically weaker sections. He reiterated the state's commitment to the vision of "Viksit Rajasthan-2047" under central guidance. Noting that the nationwide expansion of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign was launched from Jhunjhunu district, while Poshan Abhiyaan and the HPV vaccination initiative against cervical cancer were also rolled out from the state, Sharma said that flagship national schemes have also had strong roots in Rajasthan. Sharma credited the Modi government with strengthening national security, curbing terrorism and Naxalism, expanding infrastructure and accelerating economic and social development. The Prime Minister's vision had ensured that the benefits of government programmes reached the last person in the queue, he said. Regarding Operation Sindoor, Sharma noted the role played by military personnel from the state, describing the operation as an example of India's strengthened defence capabilities and growing self-reliance. He also highlighted cultural and heritage initiatives during the Modi government, citing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and Mahakal Lok, saying these projects contributed to a "cultural revival" across the country. The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised special prayer ceremonies across Rajasthan to commemorate the occasion. State party chief Madan Rathore offered prayers at Jharkhand Mahadev Temple in Jaipur.
