MLA injured in vehicle collision, 4 held: Police
Udaipur, Aug. 31 -- Four men were arrested on Saturday in connection with a collision involving the vehicle of Rajsamand MLA Deepti Kiran Maheshwari that took place on the Udaipur-Rajsamand national highway and led to three people, including the MLA, being injured, police said, adding the incident took place on the intervening night between Friday and Saturday.
According to police, Maheshwari was travelling from Rajsamand's direction when a Gujarat-registered vehicle allegedly took a sudden turn and collided with her car around 1 am near Amberi in Udaipur.
"The black TUV vehicle involved in the accident, bearing a Gujarat registration number, has been seized by Udaipur's Sukher police," station house officer Sukher Ravindra Charan said.
Charan said Imran Khan (33), Usman Gani (25), Mohammad Imran (44), and Sagar Lohar (21) were taken into custody for questioning. "Initial investigations reveal that they work as mechanics and are residents of Udaipur," he added.
Those injured were taken to Udaipur's Geetanjali Hospital, said the SHO. "Deepti Kiran Maheshwari has sustained rib fractures. She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but out of danger. She will be shifted to the ward today," doctors said.
District BJP president Gajpal Singh Rathore, general secretary Devilal Salvi, and spokesperson Govind Dixit reportedly visited Maheshwari in the hospital....
