Alwar, Sept. 25 -- A 40-year-old man was allegedly killed by a stone in an attack outside the Barodamev police station in Alwar district on Thursday morning, triggering protests by his family and local residents. Police arrested the accused, Harsh Moortikar, following the incident. Police said the deceased, Sekun Khan, 40, son of Nasru Khan and a resident of Bada Vas, had come to the market to buy a motorcycle tyre. He was passing in front of the police station after dropping a man from his village, Noor Mohammad, at a bank when the accused allegedly confronted him around 10 am. Police said Harsh allegedly pulled Sekun off his motorcycle and attacked his head with a stone lying on the road. Those at the spot rushed the injured man to the community health centre, from where he was referred to Alwar. However, he died on the way to the hospital. The incident led to anger among local residents, with family members and villagers gathering outside the Barodamev police station and the Alwar district hospital. Protesters also allegedly clashed with police and engaged in pushing and shoving with personnel outside the police station. Local residents later blocked the Alwar-Bharatpur road, resulting in long queues of vehicles. Police said the accused had been arrested and an investigation was underway to establish the circumstances and motive behind the killing. Sekun, who worked in agriculture, is survived by his wife and three children. Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully criticised the incident in a social media post, saying the killing of a youth in front of the main gate of a police station was a serious question over law and order. He alleged that criminals no longer feared the police and questioned the security arrangements in the state. Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal also reacted to the incident, describing the killing as an example of what he called "jungle raj" in Rajasthan. He said the fact that a person could allegedly attack and kill a youth in front of a police station raised serious questions about the safety of ordinary citizens....
