Man held for selling fake question papers ahead of NEET retest: Cops
bhilwara, June 20 -- Two days before the re-conducted NEET 2026 examination scheduled for June 21, Bhilwara Police carried out a major crackdown on Thursday night and arrested a youth accused of selling fake NEET question papers online through social media platforms.
According to police, the accused was operating a Telegram group using a US-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) and proxy networks to circulate fraudulent NEET papers among students. The action was initiated following intelligence inputs received from Delhi by Bhilwara superintendent of police (SP) Sagar Meena.
Pratap Nagar SHO Sunil Tada said that, ahead of the nationwide NEET re-examination, the district police had been directed to remain highly vigilant to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. Acting on a confidential alert received through the I-MEC portal, police learned that certain anti-social elements were preparing and selling fake NEET papers through Telegram and other social media platforms.A police team raided a house in Patel Nagar and detained 19-year-old Akash, a resident of Rawatsar in Churu district. During the search, investigators found that he had been operating Telegram through VPN and proxy networks and was distributing fake NEET papers online to students.
Police seized a NEET preparation book, a mobile phone and other documents from the spot. The accused had been preparing for Air Force competitive examinations in Jaipur and had returned to Bhilwara only two days earlier. On Friday, Akash was produced before a court and remanded to police custody until June 22. During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that he had created a Telegram group with 54 members. Investigators have so far found that he allegedly sold fake NEET papers to around five individuals and collected approximately Rs.18,000 in return.
Police are now questioning those who purchased the papers and investigating the wider network. Authorities have also indicated that the accused's minor younger brother is under suspicion for possible involvement in the operation. If evidence emerges, appropriate legal action wl be taken against him as well....
