Udaipur, March 1 -- A 42-year-old farmer was found dead in an agricultural field near Udaipur district'S Sajjangarh Sanctuary early on Saturday, officials said, adding that a leopard was suspected to have killed the man. According to officials, the victim, Babulal, had gone to the fields on Friday to irrigate his wheat crop and later slept on the roof of a small room built near a well. His body was found around 500 metres away from where he had slept, after a local who had come to the water pump reportedly followed a trail of blood from the well to the body. "Prima facie, it appears that a leopard attacked him during the night and dragged him away," said Badgaon station house officer, Kitab Devi, adding that the body has been sent to Udaipur for a post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway. Forest ranger Sitaram Meena from Sajjangarh Sanctuary and ranger Tej Singh Ranawat from Udaipur East also took stock of the situation, said officials. Ajay Dewra, the sarpanch, said, "We had informed the Forest Department many times about the movement of leopards in the area, but no serious action was taken. Now a man has lost his life."...
