Bhilwara, May 17 -- A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating his five-month pregnant wife to death in Bhilwara district, police said on Saturday. According to police, the incident took place on May 13 at night in BSL Colony under Hamirgarh police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Roli Devi, 41. The case was registered based on a written statement given by the victim's elder daughter. Hamirgarh SHO Sunil Kumar Beda said that the 14-year-old daughter informed police that the accused, Gopi Singh alias Rajkumar, frequently assaulted her mother. On the night of the incident, he allegedly beat her brutally, causing severe injuries. Neighbours later arrived at the scene and rushed the woman to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead due to excessive bleeding. Police officers stated that the accused assaulted his wife, resulting in death due to heavy blood loss. The accused was arrested late Friday and produced before the court and has been sent to police custody until May 19 for further investigation, police said.
