Kin of cyber fraudsters attack police, flea with accused: Police
Bharatpur, March 17 -- Family members of two alleged cyber fraudsters attacked a police team and rescued the accused from custody in Rajasthan's Alwar district, police said on Monday, police said.
The incident took place on Sunday evening when a team from Nagar police station in Deeg district conducted a raid in Semla Khurd village under Govindgarh police station limits in Alwar.
Two cyber fraud accused - Taslim Mev and Sabir Mev, residents of Semla Khurd village - were wanted by the Deeg police. After receiving information that the suspects were at their homes, a team from Nagar police station reached the village to arrest them.
Police detained both the accused and were taking them to Nagar police station when their family members allegedly blocked the way of the police team.
The mob then started pelting stones at the police personnel. Assistant Sub-Inspector Ram Niwas and constable Bheron Singh were injured in the attack.
After being informed, a team from Govindgarh police station reached the spot and rushed the injured policemen to a hospital.
Govindgarh station house officer Dharam Singh said a case has been registered against those who attacked the police team.
Police later conducted another raid in the village, but the attackers along with the accused had fled from the area.
"Efforts are on to trace the absconding accused and those involved in the attack," Singh said.
Nagar circle officer Manoj Kumar said the police team had gone to Semla Khurd village to arrest the wanted cyber fraud accused when their relatives attacked the team and helped them escape....
