Jaipur, Nov. 3 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday underscored the pivotal role of the judiciary in strengthening democracy and ensuring justice for all, describing it as the "backbone of any nation." Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed building of the Bar Council of Rajasthan in Jodhpur via video conference, Sharma said that true development is only possible when justice reaches the last person in society.
"Every individual comes to the court with the hope of justice. A strong and accessible judicial system ensures that faith in democracy remains intact," the chief minister said, emphasizing that justice and development go hand in hand.
Highlighting the state government's commitment to improving judicial infrastructure, Sharma announced that new courts are being established at the district level wherever required, and the process of appointing new judges is being expedited to ensure quicker delivery of justice.
"Public welfare remains our top priority," the chief minister said, adding that the government is taking all necessary steps to strengthen the justice delivery system across the state.
Sharma also lauded the Bar Council's role as an essential bridge between the judiciary and the public, saying it plays a crucial part in realizing the people's aspirations for justice.
He assured that the state government is fully committed to supporting advocate welfare and enhancing the institutional capacity of the Bar Council.
CM Sharma said that the judiciary is a strong pillar of democracy, one that kindles the spirit of justice and equality in society. He emphasized that a robust judicial system instills a sense of security among citizens.
The chief minister noted that the three new criminal laws implemented in the country have redefined the concept of justice.
In Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam are being implemented effectively at the grassroots level, leading to faster judicial processes and positioning the state to become a frontrunner in the country's justice system, he said.
Reiterating his faith in the legal fraternity, Sharma said that advocates are not only the architects of society but also the most vital link in the judicial process. "Your reasoning, knowledge, and commitment form the foundation of justice," he told members of the legal community, urging them to continue strengthening public trust in the system.
The event in Jodhpur was attended by Supreme Court judges justice Sandeep Mehta and justice Vijay Bishnoi, acting chief justice of the Rajasthan high court justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, justice Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati, advocate general Rajendra Prasad, additional solicitor general Bharat Vyas, and senior members of the Bar Council. Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra joined the ceremony virtually.
