Janmashtami revelry draws crowds in Jaipur
Jaipur, Sept. 5 -- Devotees thronged temples across Jaipur to mark Janmashtami celebrations on Friday.
At the historic Govind Devji Temple, devotees began arriving late Thursday night, while darshan started with Mangala Aarti at 4 am.
The main celebrations were held around midnight. Before the midnight celebrations, the deity underwent a Panchamrit Abhishek, with six Vedic priests reciting hymns.
According to the temple administration, 425 litres of milk, 365 kg of curd, 11 kg of ghee, 85 kg of powdered sugar and 11 kg of honey were arranged for the abhishek.
Several other temples in Jaipur have organised special programmes for the festival.
Meanwhile, chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma offered prayers at the Shrinathji Temple at Poonchhari Ka Lautha in Deeg district on the occasion.
Sharma, accompanied by his wife, performed rituals at the temple and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the people of Rajasthan, a official statement said. He also performed an abhishek of Shri Giriraj Ji at the Mukut Mukharvind Temple....
