Jaipur, Feb. 27 -- Jaipur Urban Development and Autonomous Governance Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra on Thursday announced that the Jaipur Metro Phase-II route has been finalised based on scientific parameters, including traffic studies, field surveys, and financial analysis. Replying to demands for grants on the Urban Development and Housing Department and Autonomous Governance Department in the Rajasthan Assembly, Kharra said the corridor connects key industrial, educational, and commercial hubs. The proposed North-South line from Prahladpura near Ring Road on Tonk Road to Todi Mod on Sikar Road-spanning 42.80 km with 36 stations-targets high passenger-density zones and eases traffic congestion. Expansion to areas like Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar is also under consideration, he added. A senior official noted the route expands on the original Detailed Project Report's 23-km Ambabari-Sitapura stretch, boosting connectivity along major arterials. Kharra highlighted reforms like the Rajasthan Township Policy-2024 and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Policy-2025, which promote high-density building within 5-10 minutes' walk of transit stations to boost public transport and cut private vehicle use. Provisions cover streamlined traffic and parking; Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has declared five TOD corridors. The JDA has added 679 revenue villages for the Master Development Plan-2047, extending the current 2025 plan to 2027. Emphasising digital transparency, Kharra said all 49 JDA citizen services are now fully online, with master plan details (khasra, land use, schemes) on the JDA website. Lease deeds are digitised, with 24,000 e-pattas issued so far. The government has approved master plans for six cities and released drafts for seven more. Notifications for 19 of 115 new urban bodies have been issued under the Rajasthan Urban Improvement Act, 1959. The TOD Policy-2025 also incentivises mixed-use developments, green spaces, and pedestrian pathways around stations, targeting a 30% rise in public transit ridership by 2030....
