Jaipur, March 29 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday alleged that the state government's administrative neglect kept the planned Jaipur International Cricket Stadium, envisioned as the world's third largest stadium, from timely completion.. "Some anti-sports thinking tarnished Rajasthan's image! The world's third-largest cricket stadium, slated for construction in Jaipur's Chonp, is the poor victim of the BJP government's negligence. The Congress government laid the foundation stone of this international-level stadium to enhance Rajasthan's prestige, and it was scheduled to be completed by 2024. However, the project remains stalled even afterf 36 months. Even the RCA elections haven't been held for two years," Gehlot wrote on X as part of his ongoing series #IntejaarShastra, aimed to putting pressure on the government over various unfinished projects. In March 2024, Rajasthan Cricket Association had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) to build the "world's third largest cricket stadium" in Chonp village of Jaipur district. The stadium was planned across 100 acres, with a seating capacity of over 75,000, only surpassed by Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium and Melbourne Cricket Ground have a larger seating capacity than this planned stadium....
