IPS officer accused of rape put on APO
Jaipur, May 4 -- A senior IPS officer, Kishan Sahai Meena, was put on awaiting posting order (APO) on Sunday a day after a 53-year-old woman filed a first information report (FIR) against him for allegedly raping her three months ago and also threatening her.
"The Inspector General of Human Rights Cell, Kishan Sahai Meena, was made awaited posting order due to administrative reasons. He will report to the headquarter till further orders," read a copy of the order issued by the department of personnel.
Additional deputy commissioner of police, of Jaipur's special investigation team, Jigyasa, said, "The woman is a native of Jalandhar. She sent the complaint to the Malviya Nagar police station on Saturday based on which we have lodged the FIR. We can't reveal much details about the woman's identity."
According to the officials, the woman alleged that she knew Meena, the current inspector general of the human rights cell of Rajasthan Police, for over a year.
"She alleged that Meena committed to marry her and then invited her to his official bungalow on February 22 where he raped her. Later, he had also been threatening her for the last three months to stop her from filing an FIR. He had also allegedly told her that he is associated to a political party and so he will use his influence to ruin her life if she files any FIR," the officer said.
The FIR was lodged under section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
"The woman's medical test will be conducted. We will also question the Meena about the matter. Further probe is underway."...
