Jaipur, Aug. 25 -- Several parts of eastern Rajasthan received heavy rain on Monday, with Jaipur, Alwar, Dholpur, Karauli, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa and Khairthal-Tijara witnessing showers that led to waterlogging in several areas. In Alwar, children were seen making their way to school through waterlogged roads, while traders in Karauli's Hindaun City market shut their shops after rainwater accumulated in the area. Khairthal-Tijara received rain for nearly four hours from around 6am to 10am. The Khairthal underpass was submerged under nearly seven feet of water, forcing authorities to stop traffic on the route. Water also accumulated in markets, roads, residential colonies and low-lying areas of Kishangarh Bas. In Bharatpur district, rain was reported from Nadbai, where a wall of a house belonging to Gangaram Koli in Meera Colony collapsed following the showers. In Dholpur district, Bari received 44 mm of rain in the 12 hours till 8am on Monday, according to the Irrigation Department. The rain, which began on Sunday night, continued until Monday morning. The Urmila Sagar dam area recorded the highest rainfall in the district at 98 mm, followed by 55 mm in Basedi, 51 mm in Sarmathura-Sampau and 30 mm at Talabshahi dam. Dholpur has received 441.3 mm of rain so far this monsoon against its average seasonal rainfall of 650 mm, taking the cumulative rainfall to 67.9% of the seasonal average. Rainfall has also improved water levels in several reservoirs. Water inflow, however, remains relatively low in Umreh, Hussainpur and RT dams. In Jaipur, heavy rain began around 2pm in several areas, including JLN Marg, Malviya Nagar, Gopalpura Bypass and Tonk Road....
