Jaipur, Aug. 31 -- Parliamentary affairs minister Jogaram Patel on Saturday denied that the high court had cancelled the 2021 sub-inspector examinations over serious paper leak allegations, but instead said that it had only made a few observations on the matter. The high court, on Thursday, delivered its verdict cancelling the examination, which was notified to hire 859 people in vacant posts, over allegations of paper-leaks across the state, in a case which eventually led to at least 122 arrests by the special operations group since March 2024. A single bench consisting of justice Sameer Jain, passed the order while also directing that all listed candidates retake the examination this year. Candidates with previous government jobs must also get their jobs back, as directed by the bench. Speaking to the reporters in Jodhpur, Patel said, "The high court did not cancel the exam but made some observations so that we can investigate the matter properly and send it to the RPSC. But the court's observations are crucial." He added that the court directed the government to launch a probe against the RPSC members who were appointed during the Congress government. "Court observed that this examination's integrity was compromised as multiple RPSC members colluded in the matter. Court asked to consider some changes in the RPSC's framework and re-structure it further. Court has praised how the current BJP government has formed the SIT, investigated the matter, and also taken action against several people," said Patel. "Court has also observed how the previous government did not take any action against the culprits, did not lodge any FIR, nor initiated a probe. We have received the order copy that is currently being reviewed by the law department. After a thorough review, we will take our next decision," the minister said on Saturday. Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvdi said, "Government needs to tell us whether they are even correctly informed or not. CM, cabinet minister, and the public are saying HC canceled the exam. But Patel is denying it. Are they cancelling it or not ? They had recommended earlier also not to cancel the exam. Better, they... save those who qualified fairly."...
