JODHPUR, Sept. 25 -- The Rajasthan high court on Wednesday directed that no coercive action be taken against independent MLA Ganesh Raj Bansal, his wife Santosh Bansal and daughter Vandana Jain in connection with an FIR registered at Hanumangarh Junction police station. Justice Ashok Kumar Jain passed the interim order while hearing two connected criminal miscellaneous petitions concerning FIR No. 624/2026, registered on September 17 and FIR No. 625/2026, registered on September 18, at Hanumangarh Junction police station. The FIRs involve offences under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC. Bansal had fielded supporters as independent candidates in 56 of Hanumangarh's 60 wards in the municipal council election and 33 of them were elected as councillors. Despite Bansal being in police custody, his supported candidate Manju Ranwa was elected Hanumangarh Municipal Council chairperson. The petitioners are Bansal, his wife Santosh and daughter Vandana. During Wednesday's hearing, investigating officer Satpal Singh, additional superintendent of police (CID & CB), Range Cell, Bikaner, informed the court that Bansal had been arrested in connection with FIR No. 624/2026 and was currently on police remand. The investigating officer also told the court that, apart from the ongoing proceedings against Bansal in FIR No. 624/2026, no coercive action had been taken against the other petitioners. He further said that no coercive action had been taken against any of the petitioners in FIR No. 625/2026. After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its order and directed that the matters be listed for orders on September 26. "In the meanwhile, no coercive steps be taken against all petitioners in FIR No.625/2026 dated 18.09.2026," the court ordered.
