Jaipur, Sept. 19 -- Rajasthan governor Haribhau Bagade on Wednesday night directed a probe against the vice chancellor of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (MLSU), Sunita Mishra, who recently praised Mughal emperor Aurangzeb as "best administrator" sparking a massive protest by the local Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unit. In the order, issued by the Raj Bhawan, the governor has formed a five-member-committee comprising the divisional commissioner of Udaipur Pragya Kewalramani, additional divisional commissioner of Udaipur Chhogaram Dewasi, financial advisor of Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML) Suresh Kumar Jain, deputy legal advisor of Udaipur district collector Kailash Chandra Swarnakar, and the principal of the Udaipur RNT Medical College Dr Vipin Mathur to probe the matter. "This committee is hereby directed to investigate all the allegations received against the VC of MLSU, Sunita Mishra, gather all the necessary documents, and prepare a detailed report which has to be submitted to the governor as soon as possible," read the order copy seen by HT. This comes only a day after Mishra circulated a video statement apologising for her statement during an event "Indian Knowledge System: A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat 2047" conference on September 12, where she described Aurangzeb as "(an) administrator, he is the best." She had also "equated" Maharana Pratap and Prithviraj Chauhan with Akbar, saying that from a historical perspective, we keep hearing about all these rulers. The statement sparked a protest on the campus by the students majorly from ABVP and some other caste outfits next day, with students locking her chamber from outside for several hours, burning her effigy, smearing her photos with black ink, sitting on a protest calling for her boycott and demanding her resignation, and writing letters to the governor. Mishra, on Wednesday, apologised to the students in a video statement....
