Gurjars stage stir over online abusive posts
Bharatpur, July 9 -- Members of the Gurjar community blocked the state highway in Bharatpur on Wednesday, demanding strict action against those who had posted abusive content targeting the community on social media, officials said.
The tension follows an exchange of abusive language between the members of the Gurjar and Meena communities after water from the Panchana dam in Karauli was released.
Members of the Gurjar community held a panchayat at Raseri village near Peelupura under Bayana Sub-division. They later blocked the Bharatpur-Karauli state highway at Raseri village but they agreed to withdraw their protest after convinced by the officials.
The protesters are demanding legal action against those people of Meena community who abused leaders and people of the Gurjar community over the Panchana dam water dispute.
Bhura Bhagat,Gurjar panchayat member said that they will hand over a memorandum to the chief minister for Bayana Sub-division Magistrate to take legal action. "We have demanded that the people who were abusing and trying to make casteist remark, should have complaints lodged against them," Bhagat said.
The protesters have given an ultimatum to the government of 24 hours. The community will call a panchayat again at Raseri to launch a fresh stir if the abusing people are not arrested by the police,Bhagat said. The panchayat was held in Gudla village where people of 39 Gurjar dominated villages participated. Karauli-Hindaun state highway was also blocked by the Gurjar community....
