Govt to distribute 2.795 mn seed mini kits for Kharif season: CMO
Jaipur, Oct. 8 -- The state government has launched an initiative to distribute over 2.795 million seed mini-kits for the upcoming Kharif season, release from the chief minister's office announced on Tuesday.
The scheme prioritises women from marginalised or economically vulnerable backgrounds, said the release. Eligible recipients will receive high quality moong, moth, jowar, maize, bajra, groundnut and soybean seeds, it added.
The initiative's implementation falls under various national and state schemes, promotes transparency through Jan Aadhaar and offers farmers technical guidance for better crop management to enhance yields and strengthen the rural economy, the release said.
"The state government is taking proactive steps to strengthen agriculture and empower farmers, with a special focus on women," said the release.
"Recognising agriculture as the backbone of the state's economy, the government aims not only to increase production but also to ensure economic prosperity for farmers by linking them with technology, training, and resources," it added.
Under the 2025-26 budget announcement for the Kharif 2025 season, a total number of 2,795,337 seed mini-kits have been distributed by the state government under various schemes.
This includes a total of 18,966 kits of groundnut and soybean under the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oilseeds (NMEO-OS), in addition to 216,651 kits of urad, arhar, and jowar under the National Food Security Mission (NFSM), and also the state budget allocations of 1,149,658 maize kits, 799,995 bajra kits, 4 lakh moong kits, and 100,000 moth kits, the release from the chief minister's office states.
"Priority is given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, small and marginal farmers, self-help groups, women below the poverty line, and persons with disabilities. Seed distribution is done transparently through the Jan Aadhaar system," the release says.
"Agricultural officers guide beneficiaries on crop selection, sowing methods, crop management, and proper seed usage to maximize yields," adds the release....
