Jaipur, Aug. 11 -- The Rajasthan government has amended the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) on Sunday allowing greater flexibility in the annual OPD expenditure limits. According to a notification issued by the finance department, on the directions of chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the powers to increase the existing annual limits - Rs.50,000 for OPD medicines and Rs.5,000 for diagnostic tests -have now been delegated to the medical and health department and its subsidiary, the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency (RSHA). Under the revised framework, the additional chief executive officer (CEO) or joint CEO (authorised by the medical and health department) of the RSHA can approve increases in the OPD medicines limit up to Rs.2 lakh. While the RSHA CEO is authorised to approve increases from Rs.2 lakh to Rs.7 lakh, cases exceeding Rs.7 lakh will be approved by the medical and health department at the administrative level. Similarly, the authority to raise the diagnostic test limit beyond Rs.5,000 has been given to the RSHA CEO. Previously, these powers were under the state finance department.
