Jaipur, Aug. 19 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday criticised the state government over alleged irregularities in admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. In a post on X, Gehlot said several parents met him and complained that even after being selected in the RTE lottery, their children were not being admitted to schools despite the academic session having already begun. Gehlot reminded that the UPA government had enacted the RTE law. "Our government has implemented it and secured the future of thousands of children. But today, due to government negligence, those same children are wandering helplessly," he wrote, urging the state government to ensure that all such children are admitted to schools. Responding to Gehlot's comments, BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj said that Gehlot "feels the need to make a statement every day," adding that admissions under RTE have already been ensured by the government....
