Jaipur, Aug. 26 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday noted alleged lapses in the state government's welfare delivery and healthcare and attacked the BJP regime over alleged fraudulent medicine distribution worth Rs.3 crore at Jaipur's JK Lon Hospital. Gehlot alleged that the government was moving to informally shut down several key welfare schemes offered by the Congress regime, including the unemployment allowance scheme, by withholding payments. "Nearly 2 lakh unemployed youth have been waiting for the Rs.4,000 allowance under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Sambal Yojana for seven months," he wrote on X. In a separate post, Gehlot alleged that medicines meant for sick children were allegedly issued in the names of fake patients and through handwritten slips in Jaipur's JK Lon Hospital. A probe by a team formed by the Drug Controller reportedly found discrepancies in the hospital's records, local purchases and drug distribution. Gehlot demanded a probe and action against those responsible. In response, BJP's Ram Lal Sharma said the unemployment allowance scheme was halted after complaints of financial irregularities and would be resumed after the inquiry.
