Jaipur, Sept. 23 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday said his party would refrain from directly criticising first-time CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, citing "humanitarian grounds" and lack of administrative experience. "CM Sharma doesn't have much experience. I am not against him. He is new to this business. It will take him time. How can we criticise him? It's a humanitarian ground. Whatever I am saying, it's more like advice to him. Congress doesn't have a culture like BJP to torture people who are new in any job," Gehlot said during a press conference in Bhilwara. He added: "We need to think before launching any attack against the CM Bhajan Lal Sharma. Had Vasundhara Raje been made the CM for the third time and had there been any lack in the administration then, the Opposition could have spoken upfront," Urging Sharma to listen to the issues raised by the opposition, Gehlot also said that "his chief ministership was predestined like every other thing is predestined. I had also become a chief minister during my first tenure as a member of parliament (MP). Instead of following the anarchy unleashed by the central government, he must focus on good governance. If he works well, it will benefit BJP only." "I have nothing to do with the BJP or Congress's governemnt right now. The public should be benefitted. It might be the first time when an anti-incumbency against a government is growing rapidly within just two years of their tenure," he said. Referring to the Chiranjeevi Health Scheme which was launched by the Gehlot-led Congress government in 2021, the former CM also said that the BJP government has deliberately been misleading the people about its features. "It was a flagship scheme that made Rajasthan a model state in the country's health sector. This scheme provides cashless treatment up to Rs.2,500,000. Despite the BJP government changing the name of this scheme, the features are still the same. But, they circulated a wrong message among the public that it only gives cashless insurance up to Rs.500,000 which is the key feature of central government's Ayushmann Bharat scheme. Our scheme was not Ayushmann but an expansion. Due to this wrong messaging, people, who need it, are not being able to utilize this scheme in a the appropriate full-fledged manner," said the former chief minister. Referring to the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Banswara on Thursday, Gehlot urged him to make a statement on the delayed justice to the family of Kanhaiyalal who was brutally beheaded in 2022 by some assailants over a social media post on BJP MP Nupur Sharma's comment on Prophet Muhammed. "I had tweeted about it during Amit Shah's visit as well. But no response came. They made it an issue against Congress during the election. Then, why is justice delayed now? I hope the PM should speak about it this time." He also said, "The Banswara Mahi atomic power project was also a proposal made by me during 2009 which the PM is going to inaugurate on Thursday. But, I don't have any problem with it. It was supposed to take time." Hitting back, state BJP chief Madan Rathore said, "BJP government under the CM Bhajan Lal Sharma is doing well. We are serious and sensitive about all the public issues. Gehlot is scared of losing ground when Bhajan Lal Sharma is working honestly for the public. Therefore, he is trying to mislead the people."...
