Gehlot: 1.6mn benefitted from free medicine scheme since '11
Jaipur, Aug. 27 -- At least 1,630 million patients have benefitted from Mukhyamantri Nishulk Dava Yojana in Rajasthan since 2011, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Tuesday.
In a post on X, Gehlot said: "This is really extremely satisfying news. This figure is even more than the total population of this entire country. It proves that a government can make any welfare work possible if it has a will."
Referring to an article from the local newspaper, he also said: "This scheme gave confidence to the public and therefore they started visiting the government hospitals in large numbers for treatments. I remember that an MLA once told me how this scheme helped more women to get access to medical facilities as many families do not provide women with good facilities due to poverty and social discrimination."
"As a CM, I started this scheme along with Chiranjeevi Health Scheme at both government and private hospitals for a better universal health system. I am happy that my government made an example in Rajasthan's health model which was later also followed by a lot of other governments in different states," he further said.
In another tweet, Gehlot also slammed the BJP government for lack of supply of Urea and DAP in the market for the last few days.
"The double engine government has totally failed. Farmers are frustrated as Urea and DAP are not sufficiently available in the market. People in CM's home district Bharatpur, were seen standing in an over 8-hour long queue but still didn't get urea," he said.
Taking a dig at chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, he added: "BJP only gains votes in the name of farmers' welfare but fails to provide them with water, electricity, and any other facility."
In response, food and civil supplies minister Sumit Godara said, "This was a sporadic incident. Rarely in some places farmers are standing in a queue. Gehlot just wants to stay in the discussion and therefore making such issue."...
